How many years have you been in the profession?
Why did you become a librarian?
When I was an undergrad I had one of those eureka moments where I realized the key to research and knowledge was the ability to know what’s out there. When I learned the many different functions librarians perform to make information discoverable, I was hooked.

Why is it important to be active in our union?
Because we need to be organized to maintain our fair share for library workers. In a world where people are increasingly focused on their specific situations, it’s important to help everybody in our profession, particularly early career librarians.
How are you contributing to this round of bargaining?
- I’m on the Statewide Bargaining Committee
- I’m organizing & agitating on my local campus
What aspects of working conditions do you want to see improve for your fellow librarians?
Salaries and professional development funding are key to recruiting and retaining world class librarians, but I also think housing assistance is a critical component.
When you’re not fighting for the rights of Unit 17 members, what do you do to unwind?
Volunteer at KALX radio, support Sheffield Wednesday, and riding the bus around town.
